Mississippi Native Writes!!

Although I write under the name of Aretha Renia, My actual birth name is Aretha Renia Isbell.  I was born in Houston, Mississippi on February 11, 1975.  I was raised here, too.  It is a small town, but it is full of character.  The people here are friendly and the atmosphere is laid back.

I am a thirty-four year old mother of four: one daughter and three sons.  It has been my dream to become a published author since I was five years old.  It wasn't until I reached the fifth grade that I discovered my choice of genre.  That was when I read "Romeo and Juliet" for the first time.  The love that was expressed there was so dramatic that it made me long to be able to express something like that on paper.  William Shakespeare was my hero- and he still is.  

  I started writing a long time ago.  I used to write short stories to amuse my friends when I was in middle school, and by the time I reached high school, both students and staff were among my readers.  I was often asked when my next story would be making its rounds.  This was the highlight of my teens years.  Just knowing that something I wrote had caught the attention of others made me feel that my dreams of becoming a writer were not so far fetched.

I recently signed a contract with Publish America to publish my first book, Love for Kenya.  Although it is still in the beginning phases of publication, I am eager to share my news with one and all.  

Looking back, I realize that I probably could have made a debut back then as an up and coming writer, but I am glad that I waited.  Now that I am older, I have the added advantage of life experience to help me weave a more indepth story filled with emotions that I can really relate to. 

This has been my dream for so many years.  I thank you Publish America for helping be fulfill it, and I thank- the reader.  I have longed to join the world of published writers, and now that I have, I plan to stay.  I have other works waiting in the wings.
